Why join a church?
Church membership reflects one’s commitment to Christ. For Christ Himself instituted the Church (Matt. 16:18-19), out of which there is no ordinary possibility of salvation (Matt. 18:18-20; Acts 2:47). Belonging to a local church as a spiritual community holds one accountable to follow Christ, therefore, membership is vital and should not be neglected (Heb. 10:25).
Indeed, the local church is the body of Christ and individuals are members of it, so they need one another for spiritual nourishment and growth in grace (1 Cor. 12). Individuals are bound to maintain fellowship and ought not deprive the body of their gifts and graces.
